About the Author(s)

Mary D Sheridan carried out pioneering work in the field of community paediatrics for over 40 years. Her publications include Spontaneous Play in Early Childhood and From Birth to Five Years.
Dr Ajay Sharma is Consultant Community Paediatrician at the Wilfrid Sheldon Child Development Centre, London, UK. Helen Cockerill is Consultant Speech and Language Therapist at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, UK.
